Briefing Note: Prime Minister’s Visit to Lothal

Purpose of Visit
- To inspect and review the progress of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC).
- To discuss project updates with officials and ensure timely completion.
Key Highlights
Security Arrangements:
- Deployment of 900 police personnel including IG, DIG, SP, DYSP, PSI, and Women Police for the visit.
Project Overview:
- NMHC is being built on 375 acres of land at an estimated cost of ₹4500 crores.
- Designed to highlight India’s rich maritime heritage.
Phase-1A Completion:
- Expected to be completed by end of 2025.
- Progress review to be conducted during PM’s visit.
Exhibitions & Galleries:
- 14 thematic galleries showcasing India’s maritime legacy.
- Coastal States Pavilion highlighting maritime traditions of states and union territories.
Future Plans:
- Establishment of a Maritime University offering specialized degrees.
- Student exchange and global collaboration opportunities.
