India TCS collaborates with Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd to produce India’s first domestically manufactured chips by 2026, with TCS providing semiconductor design and engineering expertise.
Three semiconductor manufacturing facilities have been approved by the India Semiconductor Mission, with Tata Electronics leading two key projects in Gujarat and Assam.
Dholera’s Mega Semiconductor Fab
Dholera, Gujarat to house an $11-billion greenfield chip manufacturing plant in collaboration with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor (PSMC), set to have an initial output capacity of 50,000 wafers per month.
Expansion in Assam
Tata Electronics also plans a $3.26-billion chip assembly and testing facility in Assam, with chip production expected by late 2025 or early 2026.
TCS’s Role in Advancing Semiconductor Services
TCS, known for its expertise in semiconductor design, has not entered chip manufacturing but plays a pivotal role in advancing semiconductor services for Tata Electronics in Dholera and other facilities.
