Nippon Express and Nagase & Co. have signed a landmark MoU to build a high-tech semiconductor supply chain in Dholera, Gujarat, strengthening India’s chip manufacturing ecosystem and positioning Dholera SIR as the country’s emerging Silicon Heartland.

Japan’s logistics and specialty chemicals giants, Nippon Express (NX Group) and Nagase & Co., Ltd., have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a high-tech supply chain for semiconductor front-end manufacturing materials in Dholera, Gujarat. The strategic partnership marks a major milestone in India’s semiconductor journey and significantly strengthens the global positioning of Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) as an emerging technology and manufacturing hub.

The collaboration brings together Nagase’s deep expertise in specialty chemical distribution with Nippon Express’ global leadership in precision semiconductor logistics, addressing the complex requirements of front-end wafer fabrication. These include the safe handling and transportation of hazardous and ultra-sensitive chemicals and gases, end-to-end supply-chain visibility, and just-in-time delivery systems essential for high-frequency semiconductor production.

Dholera SIR has officially transitioned into an operational industrial zone and is anchored by the $11 billion Tata–PSMC semiconductor Mega Fab, which has recently entered the equipment installation phase. The Nagase–Nippon Express alliance directly supports this mega project by building robust logistics and materials infrastructure in close proximity to the fab, while also strengthening ties with local and global ancillary suppliers already establishing operations in Dholera.

Beyond Gujarat, the partnership aligns with Nagase’s Medium-Term Management Plan ACE 2.0, which identifies the Global South—particularly India—as a key growth engine, and with Nippon Express’ Business Plan 2028, which prioritizes semiconductor logistics and specialized infrastructure development. Both companies are working closely with Indian authorities to support long-term industrial growth and supply-chain resilience.

By combining chemical expertise with ultra-precision logistics, Nippon Express and Nagase aim to de-risk global semiconductor supply chains and accelerate India’s emergence as a competitive semiconductor manufacturing destination. The alliance underscores growing Japan–India industrial cooperation and positions Dholera SIR as the foundation of India’s future Silicon Heartland by 2030.
