Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says Dholera will be India’s next power hub, emerging as a global center for semiconductor manufacturing

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that Dholera city in Gujarat will soon become a major hub for high-tech manufacturing, with the world’s attention now focused on India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor sector.

During a high-level meeting held in Gandhinagar, the minister reviewed the progress of semiconductor and display fab projects in Gujarat. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and Science & Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia, according to a state government release.

Vaishnaw received a detailed presentation on key infrastructure developments, including power, water supply, logistics, and social infrastructure, along with rail, road, and air connectivity planned to support the semiconductor projects being developed in Dholera and Sanand.

Leading global and Indian companies such as Tata, Micron, and CG Semicon are setting up advanced semiconductor and display fabrication units in the region. The projects are expected to make Dholera the next power hub for India’s high-tech and semiconductor industries, driving innovation, employment, and economic growth.

With world-class infrastructure and strategic policy support, Dholera Semiconductor City is emerging as a cornerstone of India’s vision for technological self-reliance and global competitiveness
