In a major boost to Dholera development, Japan’s Ambassador to India, Mr. Keiichi Ono, concluded his three-day visit to Gujarat with a special focus on the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) – India’s most promising smart city project.
Ambassador Ono, accompanied by Japan's Economic and Development Affairs Minister Ms. Koyoko Hokugo, met Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar to discuss deepening industrial ties under the banner of Gujarat Japan collaboration.

🔹 Focus on Semiconductor Investment:
Japan expressed strong interest in setting up semiconductor manufacturing units in Dholera, citing the region's rapidly developing infrastructure and Gujarat’s policy support.
🔹 Electric Vehicle Manufacturing & Bullet Train in Dholera:
Japan is also exploring opportunities to invest in EV production units and accelerate the much-anticipated Ahmedabad–Mumbai High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train) project, which will significantly enhance Dholera’s connectivity and industrial reach.
🔹 Dholera: A Rising Global Tech Hub
With over 350 Japanese companies already operating in Gujarat, the visit signifies Japan’s long-term commitment to Dholera’s smart industrial ecosystem. The Mizuho Bank will soon conduct a survey to assess and build a robust semiconductor ecosystem in Dholera.

CM Bhupendra Patel assured that the state is prioritizing the semiconductor and EV sectors and will provide world-class infrastructure and ease-of-doing-business facilities to support Japan-Gujarat industrial collaboration.
